Baked Ziti

Everyone loves a good Italian dish every once in a while. Nothing is better than a hot steaming plate of Baked Ziti. Here is a recipe that everyone will enjoy. You will need 4 tablespoons of butter, 4 tablespoons of all purpose flour, 2 and ½ cups of whole milk, a quarter teaspoon of ground nutmeg, ½ cup of grated Parmesan Cheese, 2 cups of Marina sauce, feel free to change the type of sauce to anything you may prefer. One pound of fresh shredded mozzarella, one cup grated Parmesan and salt and pepper if you like.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F, and then make the ziti according to the directions on the box. Then in a small saucepan, melt the butter over a medium to high heat and then stir in the flour. Cook the flour and butter mixture until it is golden brown. Then add the milk to the flour mixture and stir until it becomes thick, usually about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the nutmeg and the ½ cup of the Parmesan cheese.

Drain the pasta; make sure all the water is drained out. Then in a large baking dish pour the pasta into the dish, add the sauce and then add the white sauce from the saucepan and then mix it all together. It may be easier for you to mix in a big bowl before putting into the baking dish. Then if you wish, sprinkle bread crumbs over the top of the pasta.

Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until the sauce bubbles. Then if you turned added the bread crumbs, then put the dish into the broiler for about 4 minutes to get a nice crispy topping. Serves 4 to 6 people. Baked Ziti goes great with a loaf of garlic bread and a salad.
